“What could be achieved by people with a few hundred cumulative years of valuable education and experience?” was a question that challenged Program Coordinator Deborah Berglund at Mill Ridge Village Retirement Community in Milton. The answer: talk to residents of Mill Ridge well-known for their friendliness, kindness and professional track records in “people” careers, and invite them to become ambassadors. That idea began the official Ambassadors’ Club. As ambassadors, residents take on a multitude of different roles; they greet outside organizations that meet or hold events at Mill Ridge; they participate in special events and projects, they help new residents get familiar with the building, and they visit other senior-centered organizations. They are actively involved in Mill Ridge’s annual August Community Sale, and they plan to be in the Milton Days Parade this year. The ambassadors have also started looking for one or two community projects where they can offer helping hands.

The enthusiasm and energy the ambassadors bring to everything they undertake proves that living at Mill Ridge Village really does bring retirement to life!
